Case Study 1: B2B eCommerce SaaS
Scenario
The client’s blog had been experiencing YoY decline in traffic despite an uptick in demand over the last two years. Upon further investigation, the team had been producing articles that would target the correct keyword roughly 30% of the time and would rank on page 1 for the target keyword less than half the time. It was imperative that we begin frontloading SEO into our articles by creating a new content brief template, education content on SEO best practices, and prioritizing high impact keywords related to client’s product offerings.
Results
Grew the blog from 650k to 1.25M organic sessions in 6 months (+92% HoH). I accomplished this by identifying untapped opportunities and prioritizing the 2022 content roadmap. Consulting the content team on how to create a best-in-class content marketing program from prioritization to implementation also contributed to the overall growth. Lastly, I increased weighted average rank on priority keywords (~300) from position 18 to 7 in 6 months, through optimizations and experimentations.
Case Study 2: B2C Fintech
Scenario
Worked on an affiliate fintech site that wanted to expand their brand into a relatively untapped space for them, insurance. Within the first week of onboarding, the pandemic hit, and consumer demand shifted away from purchasing car insurance, resulting in a decrease in overall organic traffic by 15%. I quickly worked with the GM and business development teams to understand where they still had partnerships and could drive meaningful business. Next, I crossed checked that with consumer demand and TAM, then formulated a strategy.
Results
The vertical grew from 7.2M to 10M annual monetizing traffic YoY(+39%) and $15M to $35M YoY organic revenue (+133%).
Case Study 3: B2B SaaS Startup
Scenario
B2B SaaS startup that had a relatively stable organic search presence but hadn’t seen the growth they anticipated given the amount of content output.
Upon further inspection, they were creating content that was cannabalizing each other and needed to be consolidated and redirected. That, plus creating a content strategy that prioritized gaps in topics that generated qualified leads while fine-tuning content that was ranking within striking distance yielded positive results.
Results
Increased organic traffic by +15k monthly sessions (+214%) YoY growth, while keeping content production to only +623 new articles which is 100% YoY. Went from 7k monthly organic sessions to 22k within a year (+214%) YoY growth, while the number of new articles published went from 628 to 1,250 articles within the same time frame, which is only a 100% YoY increase in output.
Case Study 4: B2C Skincare
Scenario
A well known brand in the beauty space felt as if they were reaching headroom on terms related to their brand. In order to capture more customers and ultimately increase revenue, they wanted to expand beyond their brand and begin dominating the SERPs for non branded terms that were positioned to attract their target customers. Upon an initial analysis it became clear that while net new non branded content opportunities have significant upside, there was organic traffic being left on the table from product pages. I recommended we prioritize optimizing high priority product pages in addition to creating a content strategy for net new content opportunities. At the start of the engagement, this company didn’t have any internal resources to execute the SEO strategy so I also lead and managed a team of freelance writers, developers, and designers to ensure the strategy was implemented in an efficient and effective manner.
Results
Overall organic non branded traffic went from 5k per month to 36k per month within a year which is a +620% YoY growth in organic traffic. In addition, branded traffic went from 7k per month to 15k per month, a 100% YoY growth, due to optimizations on priority product pages.
